Long-term solution
I know I'm not adding anything new, but here's what I think:
Learning English is better as a long term solution. No one can cope with the advancements in science & technology unless he's good at English. Good here doesn't necessarily mean a writer or a native speaker - just enough knowledge to read and understand documentation/posts or whatever is required.
Until we become the leaders of technology, I suggest that everyone learns some good English. It's just being realistic.
FOSS should accomodate everyone
Although your government decided to teach in its standard primary educational curriculum English as a second language to 5 year old Egyptians. FOSS should accomodate everyone and every language and as long as there are people who are willing to donate their time to arabize and translate, then we should applaude their work, encourage, finance, join and/or find solutions for them.
Computer technology have reached prices that could make it affordable to change the world. In all social levels, computers could offer a solution to any problem. Be it used to empower villagers to improve their simple world or to power the most intricate and advanced scientific applications.
And FOSS is the way to go.
GNU/Linux and the plethora of FOSS applications could help any knowledgable geek(s) who are willing to spare sometime to build smart and afordable solutions to our long list of problems that big corps will never find it of finacial value for them.
Our geeks need a small push. May be something like a small local X-Prize!

Hey, YoussefAssad ? Where are the courses, festivals, outreach programs, guerilla marketing, news coverage, lectures, volunteer support, contests, mainstream media, refining local distros from local feedback, targeting yongsters who still have more free time to learn and contribute, etc..

Perhaps I should have phrased better.
My objective from this poll is simply to figure out how much of a priority localisation is to the EGLUG community.

Even thought I think everyone should learn as many foreign languages as he can and specially english.
Localization is recommended.
Plus localization is actually more than arabization. For example, in seaudi arabia they rely on the moon year calendar, in lybia they use weird names for the months etc...

Ia agree with arabization but , it's not the standard or so far what is the standard 'll be ; most IT/branches run under English Language ,arabization is for special purpose but not for Standardization by mean we can't for example implement an arabic compiler or maybe :)

the poll says "To increase Egyptian Linux usage" , so the main target are the normal users , besides it's pointless to chose the first choice cause that simply means we have nothing to do, we can't go teach people english.. one more thing, many of us might not think that localization is all that important, but it really is for more people that you might not know.
actually there's another choice that's missing and i believe is more important than the avilable 3 , it's to not only arabize applications but also documentation and tutorials , but probably that also goes under the 2nd choice ...

I think the problem is, arabisation is more of statement than a need for most people, at least in this lug. But I am sure that in business, most ppl will need arabic support, if not for the interface, then for the content (i.e. db content and file content, key board layout)
I doubt we will ever see much arabisation from those who dont need it. But thank God localisation is not only our need, most popular programming language nowadays support internationalization libraries.
Some popular apps thought have shity or no arabic support. I think the issue there is a programming issue, thoses apps are not internationalized.
