Submitted by ezabi on Tue, 19/02/2008 - 00:13.
Last Saturday the 16th of February 2008 a group of members had an informal meeting to discuss the current EGLUG status which is clear to all and to suggest proposals on how to revive the activities.
The attendees ideas revolved around coming up with a system that would:
- Create an incentive system that encourages people to contribute more to achieve more, this system could be primarily based on points
- Provide an incubator for pool of highly motivated and knowledgeable people whose main roles would be to push activities towards the LUG's objectives
- Control some volunteers' disrespect and abuse of the system
Accordingly the following steps should act to achieve the above up to a certain level:
- Call for the expert members whom find in themselves the ability to initiate and lead the LUG activities, activities should not be bound to the usual fests or training, more innovative and impacting activities would be prefereable
- A point system should be established to rank and validate the activities of these pronounced members as follows:
- An initial amount of points will be given to all the pronounced members
- A structured point system will be built to reflect each type and rank of activity
- Points will be added or deducted based on activity level in order to reflect a member's reputation
- A community based ranking system would be of much help to reflect the properly perceived weight of any activity
- Incentives will be offered to members with highest rating scores and highest contributions
- The pronounced members in question should have periodical meetings to better coordinate activities, these meetings should be held with the attendance of members from the admins and mods team in order to facilitate meeting decisions, meeting attendance and contribution would also reflect in the attendee's score as well as to give a change to other members to express their interest to become an expert member
In order to achieve this we would need the active contribution from the site mods and admins to put the technical mechanisms to facilitate these actions
