So does EGLUG community respect volunteers, as well?

If you checked #eglug's yesterday IRC logs would find that Mohamed Sameer had no problem with me reviewing baghdad code. My catch was that his I/O and error handling stuff is a bit controversial and his comment was that design needs a more care...but we had this conversation today

A couple of days ago on IRC I talking with "systems" about how unfriendly might eglug seem to newcomers, especially after that conversation with some stranger nicknamed "SmartUnix" (check IRC logs too)... and I think we should pay more attention to this!

Baghdad is not an EGLUG project, It's not sponsored by EGLUG, it's my PERSONAL project hosted on MY server and using MY OWN CVS and resources, And I pay from MY OWN POCKET for t.

How I interact with people regarding issues not related to EGLUG is not your business.

Simply, You are NOT going to teach me manners.

I don't like your way also, I guess I didn't post anything about it, Did I ?

We have another 2 cases:

  1. You asked about the EGLUG SQL database and I told you to ask because this is a decision I can't take by my own.
  2. You asked about the EGLUG code base, I told you that the latest code base is not available ATM and I updated the CVS with the latest copy and announced that on IRC.

So far so good with EGLUG.

But DIPPING YOUR NOSE into MY OWN LIFE in a way I DO NOT LIKE is NOT ACCEPTABLE by me.

as for the read-only access to the database and the eglug code base that i requested for security auditing .... (though this has nothing to do with what we are talking about on this thread) i talked to you as an admin and you said ask them about it and i said fine i will...i have talked to alaa about this before while discussing the new navigation architecture porposal... i just want to remind you that you have been warned about a 0-day vulnerability in the community site that you administrate...and you simpley denied every presence of it, talking in the manner as you did right now....that's why i posted about the drupal advisory in the forum...

i wonder if all open source project funders manage their projects in the same spirit...

The 2nd thing is that I was fine enough with you as an EGLUG admin that was elected by this community by pointing ou to ask about the SQL and by updating the CVS with the latest EGLUG code.

I don't care what are you going to do with the SQL dump and the code, This isyour problem and I don't care about it.

As for giving you read access to the SQL which implies giving you access to the server itself, This is a NO. THIS is OT ALLOWED except for the ADMINS.

And no, I wasn't warned about a zero day exploit, All what you did was jumping into me in the lab and telling me that I should do X and Y, You didn't show a test case, ou didn't provide details, You didn't say anything useful beyond: Hey, Disable the some tags because there are a vulnerability, I remember that I said that I can't simply listen to anyone saying anything and do what he asked me to do, If it's announced on drupal.org, I'll see what I can do. Otherwise I'm not obeying what anyone is saying because you either prove it or not.

And let me remind you that you were the one trying to exploit the eglug website not me.

Now I know why are you yelling like that.

I'm not posting in this thread again because it's a waste of my time and I think I made myself clear.

Go reread what I said:

Getting the SQL dump has nothing to do with getting read access to the database itself.

Getting a SQL dump is no more than running mysqldump, gzipping the file and emailing it to you.

Getting READ access to the database means that you get a shell and a MySQL user name and password.

Go reread what I write before you make any arguments otherwise you'll be wasting my own time.

i didn't ask for an "access" to the "whole" server.. i did ask for a "read-only" access to the database.... which means a mysql username and password of a user with restricted rights, no shell or whatever... this is exactly what i asked for.. and you didn't say a word about SQL dumps except here in this thread.. 'cause i'd have been fine with that as well... and btw you're distracting the orginal subject of this thread

If I'm distracting the subject then you helped me doing it, But you are the one who distracted it, I listed the examples to show that I don't have a problem separating between my personal behavour and my behaviour as a GLUG admin, the fact that you don't read what I type or misunderstand it makes you the faulty part not me.
